The WiFi signal of 2.4GHz and 5GHz dual-band antennas is quite different. Generally, the 2.4GHz and 5GHz dual-band antennas are independent. To ensure the best WiFi performance, keep the antennas of the same frequency band as far apart as possible. The antenna layout is then staggered as in the picture above.
The 2.4GHz spectrum ranges from 2.4GHz to 2.4835GHz, with a total bandwidth of 83.5M, divided into 13 channels, and each channel is 20M wide. Its theoretical maximum downlink bandwidth is 600Mbps.
It can be seen from the figure that these 13 channels of the 2.4G frequency spectrum overlap closely and interference is inevitable. Note that the 14th channel on the way is not allowed in China. The interference problem is also one of the biggest disadvantages of WiFi in the 2.4GHz band.
The 5GHz spectrum ranges from 4.910GHz to 5.875GHz, and the spectrum bandwidth is much larger than the 2.4GHz band. And there is basically no interference between 5G spectrum. Its theoretical maximum downlink bandwidth is 1730Mbps However, the disadvantage of 5G band WiFi is that its high frequency and short wavelength, large signal loss and weak penetration ability, which results in the signal coverage below the 2.4GHz band.
Now that the two are combined to complement each other, dual-band routers have emerged. This not only ensures the compatibility of connected devices, but also takes into account the WiFi coverage and network connection speed.
The dual-band antenna router WiFi has the blessing of MIMO technology. Among them, the 2.4GHz band uses 2-4 antennas to achieve 2x2MIMO mode or even 4x4MIMO, making the wireless rate up to 600Mbps; the 5GHz band uses another 2-4 antennas to achieve 2x2MIMO or 4x4MIMO effects, making the wireless rate up to 1730Mbps. Obviously, dual-frequency antennas are more secure than single-frequency antennas in terms of signal stability.
